Few people in recent times have had the impact of Rabbi Elazar Menachem Man Shach zt"l on the global "yeshivah world." The Rosh Yeshivah of the famed Ponevezh Yeshivah in Bnei Brak, he was a leader renowned for his Torah wisdom, piercing insight and undaunted courage.

Despite being burdened with unending communal responsibilities, he made time for everyone. His warm humanity was legendary; his genuine concern for every person was boundless.

How the Rosh Yeshivah related to other gedolim, to the throngs who sought his counsel, to his disciples and to his family, taught the lessons of a lifetime.
